OAK GROVE SCHOOL DISTRICT RETIREES, et.al.
April 12, 2016
After visiting for a while, lunch was served at 12:00 pm. There were 18 members present.
At 12:30 President Dan Judnick introduced our guest speaker, Nicole Martinez. She is a grad student at San Jose State University specializing in Public Health. She is a Food Connection field rep for Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. They partner with agencies getting food out to the community including Second Harvest Food Bank. She explained the several free programs that they help with. There are a few distribution centers at Oak Grove schools. She also asked us to refer anyone in need to her organization. Nicole is a very articulate and passionate spokesperson for her organization.
Dan announced our next lunch. It will be our annual barbecue to be held at Vasona Park on June 22, 2016. The caterer will be High 5. He reminded the members that
it will more than likely be our last luncheon. It will be decided then how we will end
the organization and disperse the money left in the treasury.
Dan then thanked the board members for jobs well done. He also thanked the members present for the food donations to St. Julie’s and the books for exchange.
We then had the raffle.
